Senior Microsoft Consultant
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Microsoft Consultant to play a key role in designing, deploying, and supporting Microsoft and mixed vendor solutions to our customers.
This role will be focused on our Microsoft and Cisco Unified Communications solutions with emphasis on the Microsoft aspect of the business.
The successful candidate will support our Unified Communications and Virtualization Practices at our downtown Toronto office. Only full-time candidates will be considered for this role.
- Work closely with the Account Management team in all stages of a project
- Supporting and leading the solutions group development initiatives through development of solution offerings, pre-sales support and systems management solutions.
- Performing system reviews of client infrastructure environments, and prepare findings documents outlining short and long-term strategies.
- Facilitating and leading client architecture and design meetings for specific technology projects including virtualized infrastructure.
- Developing SOWs for professional services engagements.
- Delivering smaller projects or segments of larger projects.
- Support existing customer base of managed services customers in a Tier 2/Tier 3 support capacity.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience working in a medium to large IT environment as a subject matter expert in Microsoft infrastructure solutions.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in the design and implementation of messaging and communication solutions at the Architect level.
- Demonstrated technical design, configuration, and implementation expertise with the following technologies, strategies and activities:
- Large scale Message System Designs, Implementations and Migrations
- Microsoft Messaging and Unified Communication technologies: Exchange 2007/2010, OCS/ Lync
- Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES)
- Archiving and Journaling with Microsoft Exchange
- Windows Server Security and Protection technologies and strategies
- Messaging System Operations and Management Process Best Practices
- System Backup, Redundancy and Disaster Recovery technologies and strategies
- Active Directory Design, Deployment and Migrations
- Windows Server Operating System Administration: Windows Server 2008
- TCP/IP, routers and switches, network load balancing (advanced)
- Firewalls, VLANs and Internet protocols (working knowledge)
- VoIP / QoS (working knowledge)
- Additional related experience and or knowledge in the following technology areas would be an asset:
- Microsoft Cloud Services: BPOS, Office 365
- Microsoft Collaboration technologies: SharePoint
- Microsoft Database technologies: SQL Server
- PowerShell Scripting and process automation
- Microsoft Virtualization technologies: Hyper-V, App-V, Med-V
- Knowledge of non-Microsoft technologies: VMware; Citrix
- Desktop Design and Deployment
- Application Virtualization and VDI (VMware View, Microsoft/Citrix)
Education and Experience:
- Excellent communication skills, including executive-level presentation experience
- Exceptional writing skills, including documenting solution architectures, support information, and leading bid response processes (RFPs, ITQs, SOWs, etc.)
- Uncompromising integrity, common sense and good judgment
- Strong customer service focus and attention to detail
- Ability to travel 25% of the time to customer locations in Ontario
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field
- Industry recognized certifications and memberships (MCTS, MCITP, etc.).
