ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Candidates should be:

- Able to deliver larger projects with minimal oversight and direction.
- Able work in a leadership role as a member of a team on large projects providing direction to consultants and assisting the project manager.
- Able to provide technical support to the presales teams for services and product support.
- Able to conduct self-study and independent work in lab facilities to increase job related knowledge and skills.
- Able to obtain related technical certifications as needed.
- Able to communicate effectively in written form.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Visio and Word.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Candidate should have:
- 2-3 years direct experience with a virtualized environments with a focus on VMware VI3/vSphere, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V Environments.
- 5-8 years direct experience working as a consultant for data center products.
- 8-12 years working experience in IT systems administration
- An understanding of at least one leading desktop virtualization product such as Citrix XenDesktop, VMware View, or Microsoft MED-V.
- Should have a BS degree (Computer Science or Engineering preferred though not required) or equivalent education and work experience.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Candidate will be:
- Required to regularly help with pre-sales activities including preparing and delivering presentations.
- Responsible for overseeing the consultants on small projects so that these are completed on-time and within budget - will also provide mentorship to consultants.
- Required to develop statements of work for medium to large projects and review SOW(s) from consultants for smaller projects.
- Responsible for leading large virtualization projects with assistance from project/engagement manager, with responsibility for delivering assigned tasks.
- Required to develop project plans for use by project managers on large projects and reviewing smaller project plans developed by consultants.
- Required to develop and complete (description, breakdown, duration) large project plans as lead architect on those projects.
- Required to develop and maintain internal intellectual property. This will be a combination of White Papers, Delivery Guides (in area of expertise), Project Briefings, Design Guidelines, and Standard SOW Collateral development.
- Required to deliver two or more papers at vendor conferences each year.
Proven administration skills in some or all of the following supporting products or industry equivalents: (Candidate should be conversant with most of these networking protocols and standards.)
- Storage Area Network switches (experience w/Cisco MDS switches preferred, but Brocade acceptable.)
- Windows DNS (UNIX based DNS experience also acceptable).
- TCP/IP Local Area Networks (Requested, not required. Prefer Cisco) should understand some aspects of Local Area Network troubleshooting and design.
Relevant industry certifications or equivalent experience for technical certifications for virtualization products: (Candidate is required to have at least one certification for at least one vendor listed below).
- VMware VCP
- Citrix CCA (CCEA Preferred)
- Microsoft MCTS (MCITP)
Understanding of Operating Systems (Candidate must be proficient in at least one of these and competent in at least one other.)
- Windows Server 2008/2003/2000
- RedHat Linux (or other Linux equivalent)
- UNIX: HP-UX, AIX or Solaris.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Candidate should have experience and/or knowledge of the products listed below and some knowledge of administration without actually being a senior administrator.
Virtualization and Storage Products (Candidate must have a capable understanding in some combination of the below products. Certification not required, but certainly encouraged. Ideally would have an understanding of at least one from each category, in some cases maybe two)
- Business Continuity ( VMware, Citrix)
- Application Virtualization (VMware, Citrix, Microsoft)
- Virtualization Management (VMware, Citrix, Veeam, Quest)
- FC Storage Area Networks (Cisco, Brocade)
- iSCSI Storage Area Networks (Cisco, Procurve)
- Storage Arrays (HP, EMC or NetApp)
